Introduction

MoneyGoWhere is a personal finance app that automatically tracks your spending by reading bank and payment notification messages on your device. Parsed transactions are stored locally on your phone. To extract transaction details from notification text, the app sends that text to MoneyGoWhere's servers, which use OpenAI's API and return structured results to your device.

Data we collect

  • Notification content — the app reads notification messages from your bank and payment apps to extract transaction details (merchant, amount, date). Notification text is sent to our servers for parsing and is not stored after processing.
  • Transaction records — parsed transactions are stored in a local SQLite database on your device. MoneyGoWhere does not store your transaction history on our servers.
  • Parse metadata — when notifications are parsed, we record aggregate statistics on our servers (e.g. number of transactions found, token usage, timestamp). We do not store the notification text or parsed transaction details.
  • Anonymous identifier — on first launch, the app creates an anonymous identifier stored in your phone's encrypted secure storage; this is not linked to your identity and is only used to allow me to better understand how many AI tokens a single user consumes.

How data is used

Notification text is sent to our servers solely to parse transaction details. Our servers forward that text to OpenAI's API for extraction and return the results to your app. Parse metadata is used for operational monitoring only. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to transaction parsing.

Data sharing

We do not sell your data. Notification text is shared with OpenAI for parsing via our servers. We do not use analytics, tracking, or advertising services. No other third parties receive your data.

Your rights

You can delete all locally stored data at any time. Uninstalling the app permanently removes all local data from your device.
